Wanda Lee Bailey

Wanda Lee Bailey nee Dace of Sullivan, MO, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the age of 85 years.
Wanda was born September 29, 1927 in Springfield, IL to the late Fredrick and Margarett (Rue) Dace. Following her mother’s death in 1928, she and her sister, Evelyn Ruth were brought to their grandmother and Uncle Lewis’s to live in Berryman, MO. Following their passing, they returned to Springfield, IL where Wanda attended and graduated from Springfield High School. After graduation, she relocated to Sullivan where she met Larry “Pete” Bailey. They were united in marriage on August 16, 1944 in Union, MO and two sons, Larry D. Bailey, Jr. and Rick L. Bailey were born to their marriage. Wanda was saved at an early age and baptized into Berryman Baptist Church. She knew Jesus was her forever Savior.  Wanda was a wonderful wife and mother. Her husband, Pete became ill and Wanda cared for him at home, with love and tenderness for six years, four of which he was bedfast. She enjoyed her life, her home, dear friends, long time neighbors, and family from both sides.
She is survived by one son, Rick Bailey and wife, Rita of Bourbon, MO; three grandchildren, Rick Bailey, Jr. and wife, Rachel, Larry Blair who they raised as their own, and Jamie LeRanza; 8 great-grandchildren, Meghan Blair, Rita Jean, Randi and Ricky Bailey, Jacqueline, Jillian and Rudy LeRanza; cousins, Benton, Jr. and Tiny Dace, Ethan and Virginia Dace and Bernice Scott; sisters-in-law, Florence Lattimore and June Sites; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Darrell and LaRae Bailey and George and Anna Belle Bailey; special neighbors, Roy and Nancy Clark,  Matt and Jason; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Bailey, one son, Larry D. Bailey, Jr. one grandson, Timothy Andrew Bailey and one sister, Evelyn Ruth Dace Harper.
Funeral services were conducted 12:00 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2013 from Meramec Valley Baptist Church, Sullivan, MO, with Pastors Richard and Eric Williams officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.
