On January 17 at approximately 10:30 PM, the Sheriff’s Office received information from Sullivan Police of a possible carjacking at Precision Metal in Sullivan. The victim was at the Sullivan Police Station.
The victim reported that he received a text message from a female acquaintance asking him to come to her residence on Springfield Road outside of Sullivan. When he arrived, he walked toward the house and was confronted by a subject with a handgun and hammer demanding money.
The victim told the suspect that he did not have money but knew where he could get some. The victim stated that the suspect took his keys and drove him to Precision Metal in Sullivan where a friend of the victim worked. The victim was to call the friend who was suppose to bring out money to him. The victim stated that he was in the passenger’s seat and the suspect was pointing a gun and knife at him. The victim stated when they arrived at the business, he dropped his cell phone on the floor while attempting to call his friend. He opened the door to turn on the dome light on to find the phone. When he opened the door, he fled yelling for people in the area to call 911.
The suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle. Witnesses in the area saw the suspect leaving the business and knew his identification. Sullivan Police and deputies began searching for the suspect. He was later located by Sullivan Police and Deputies at a residence in Sullivan where he was taken in to custody without incident for investigation of strong-armed robbery. The victim made a positive identification of the suspect.
The suspect is described as a white male, age 37 from Sullivan.
