Sullivan will be one of 635 new stores being built by Dollar General Corp. as construction of the new store is underway off Elmont Rd./Highway 185, near First State Community Bank’s Elmont Rd. location.
According to Crystal Ghassemi, Media Relations for Dollar General, the new store is expected to be some 7,200 sq. ft. and employee six to ten people depending on the frequency of customers.
“Meeting our customers’ needs is our top priority when choosing store locations. We look for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice. We also take demographic trends, competitive factors and traffic patterns into consideration. We know convenience is a major factor in our customers’ shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a 3-5 mile radius, or 10 minute drive. This new location was a great fit for Dollar General,” said Ghassemi.
Dollar General Corporation announced on Wednesday, Jan. 23, that they will be creating 6,000 new jobs by opening some 635 new stores and 550 relocations or remodels.
“Dollar General’s continued growth reflects our customers increasing satisfaction with our everyday low prices and convenience,” said Rick Dreiling, Dollar General Chairman and CEO in a press release. “Further, 2013 will mark another growth milestone as we plan to open the organizations 11,000th store before the year’s end when we will begin our 75th anniversary in 2014.”
Sullivan will become a two-store location for Dollar General as the present location on the South Service Rd., in the Dickey Bub Plaza will remain open along with the new store on the City of Sullivan’s north side, according to Ghassemi.
