Sullivan had no problems handling Salem on Thursday, drilling the Lady Tigers 73-39 in the team’s home opener.
The Lady Eagles (2-0) led throughout the contest, a contrast to their season opener against Park Hills Central five days earlier when they had to play from behind for most of the game. They jumped out to a 20-10 lead after one quarter, and despite Salem going on a 7-0 run early in the second quarter, they were never seriously tested.
Jessica Heinle hit a jumper to squash the Lady Tiger rally and restore a seven-point lead for Sullivan. It started a 10-1 run for the Lady Eagles, who would finish the half up 39-25.
Heinle opened the third quarter up with a 3-pointer, followed by Sierra Pryor scoring eight straight points to grow Sullivan’s lead from eight to 15.
Pryor finished the game with 14 points.
Sullivan went on a 14-0 run as they smothered Salem’s offense.
The Lady Eagles travel to Waynesville on Monday for another non-conference game.
