Child Found After Kidnapping

At approximately 11:17 PM, on 11-19-12 Franklin County Deputies responded to 6000 block of Cherokee Lane in Lonedell for a Kidnapping of a 4-year old child. Upon arrival deputies contacted the child’s grandmother who lived at the residence.  The grandmother advised that she had sole custody of the child.  She stated that she put her grandson to bed in the living-room then went into the neighboring bedroom and went to sleep.
The grandmother stated that she woke up shortly thereafter to check on her grandson and noticed he was no longer there. She stated she saw the front door open and ran towards the door.  As she exited the residence she noticed two people running away from her residence towards Cherokee Lane and Oak Grove Church Rd wearing black hoodies.  One of the subjects was carrying her grandson wrapped into a blanket.  She stated the suspects entered into a dark color passenger car bearing no license plates and drove off.
During interviews deputies learned that one of the suspects might be the biological mother of the child.  Family members and associates of the biological mother reportedly lived in neighboring Jefferson County.  It was believed that the biological mother may be staying with her father in Jefferson County.
Franklin county deputies along with Jefferson county deputies began working the investigation.  Jefferson and Franklin County authorities began contacting associates of the biological mother.  Upon arrival at the biological mother’s father’s residence in Jefferson County, he refused to come to the door.  Information was that deputies determined that there was a warrant for his arrest and found a meth lab located inside the residence.  This should be confirmed by Jefferson County Authorities.
Jefferson County deputies later received a call from the child’s biological mother stating that she had the child.  She stated that she would meet them at a location in Jefferson County.  After some time, she did arrive at the location but did not have the child.  Jefferson County deputies continued to contact associates of the biological mother and eventually located the child at a residence in Jefferson County unharmed.   He was returned back to the grandmother.
The mother was arrested for parental kidnapping, burglary 1st, trespassing 1st and endangering the welfare of a child.  Names are being withheld pending application of warrant.  The biological mother admitted that she had been planning to take the child for four months.  She is identified as a white female, age 21 living in the Robertsville and House Springs area.   Further investigation is being conducted.  Great cooperation from Jefferson County deputies helped bring this case to a successful conclusion.

In reference to the reported parental abduction last night, only charges for trespassing first will be sought against the suspect.  Further investigation revealed that the grandmother of the child did not actually have court ordered custody of the child.  The biological mother allegedly left the child with the grandmother around September of 2011.
