Crawford County Treasurer Jessica Easler resigned last Tuesday, effective Jan. 17.
Easler, who has been in office for the past four years, turned in her resignation letter to the Crawford County Commission last week and asked that the board install Jenny Farr as the interim replacement. Easler said she had spoken with Farr about the position and that she was interested.
Easler will be training Farr until she leaves office and that it was important to get an interim appointment quickly so that county business could continue without interruption.
Farr will be compensated from the treasurer’s budget until Easler leaves office. Farr will then receive the normal salary afforded to the county treasurer.
Easler apologized to the commission for her resignation, but said she wanted the position to be available on the 2010 ballot and for the public to decide.
During the November 2010 elections, Easler defeated her opponent Jim Huddleston with 73 percent of the vote.
The commission thanked Easler for her service and voted to accept her resignation.
