Mid-Ozark CASA was proud to be part of a very special day when a foster family of teen girls were treated to a “Makeover Day” at a local salon. Sunday, Dec. 4, was a great day for one foster mom and three of her foster daughters when Michele Beckemeyer of Xcentra Beauty Salon in Cuba sponsored a complete salon treatment for them.
The event was coordinated by Michelle Yoest, who manages The Exchange Resale Shop in Sullivan with the help of CASA volunteer, Carol Filippi. Salon specialists, Lori Myers, Amber King and Jessica Molloy, were invited to come out from St. Louis to help out.
The girls and their foster mom were each treated to a shampoo, deep hair conditioner, a new haircut and styling, manicures and facials. Each girl received a bag of goodies containing hair products, complimentary makeup, nail polish, a manicure set and assorted hair bands and clips.
The gift bags were donated by The Exchange at 28 W. Main in Sullivan and Tim and Aimee Wissman of Bourbon also donated items for the gift bags.
After the makeovers, each girl was given a special photograph taken and donated by Baylee Wiseman and Melissa Ducote. They also provided the photos for this article.
Events like this are few and far between for children in foster care and it was obvious that it was well appreciated by the smiles on their faces afterward. The girls and their “mom” had a wonderful time and shared hugs all around when the afternoon was over.
Generous donations like this are just one way that the local community can help make the lives of children in foster care more enjoyable and give them something to feel special about and remember. CASA would like to thank everyone who participated in the event.
