st-anthonys-preschoolers One story about Lucy portrays her as a young Christian who struggled against the pagan influences of her friends, and of society. Various customs have developed around Lucy’s memory and her outstanding faith.
In Scandinavian countries, young girls dress in white dresses with red sashes. They carry palms, symbolizing victory, and wear crowns of candles on their heads.  In Sweden, the girls dress as Lucy carrying rolls and cookies in procession as songs are sung.
In the photo, Lucy, portrayed by Alivia (Grade 8), sits with the Preschool children after she gladly handed each child a special sweet treat.
