Some of the third and fourth grade boys were set into action separating, repairing, and cleaning donated toys for the poor. This was a service project initiated by the children in the third and fourth grade classes. Their teacher, Mrs. Blankenship, was well aware of the energy and enthusiasm on the part of her class. These children wanted to fill the void in the lives of families who could not afford to purchase toys for their children.
Families came to the school on Sat., Dec. 3, and selected any toys they wanted for their children. There was no limit to what they could choose. St. Anthony cafeteria resembled “Toyland” in action. There were volunteers to wrap the gifts for these parents, who left the school with gratitude and appreciation written all over their faces. Imagine the joy this project brought to the hearts of the third and fourth grade children and their teacher.
