The Meramec Area friends of NRA Dinner and Auction will hold its 17th annual event at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall on Sat., Sept. 11 with the theme of “Remembering 9-11-2001.” Through the charity event, the local organization has donated over $50,000 to the Future Farmers of America Shooting Range in Stanton.
According to committee member Jerry Thurmond, 50 percent of the funds raised from the event stay in Missouri for education programs while the remaining 50 percent is given to the National Rifle Association for education.
“This event is strictly to raise money for education purposes only,” said Thurmond. “None of the funds are used for political issues.”
The event will include early games at 5:30 p.m. followed by a dinner at 7 p.m., along with a silent and live auction.
The grand prize for attending the event is a Marlin XL7 30.06.
Several different table packages, along with general admission tickets, are still available but are going fast.
Those seeking tickets may contact Jerry Thurmond at 573-468-3200, Sylvia at 573-927-5373 or Stan at 573-627-3256.
