The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 3987 was held on Thurs., Aug. 5, with 11 members in attendance and Rita Freeman presiding.
Secretary Hopwood announced one application for membership and members accepted Mary McCutcheon into the Ladies Auxiliary with a life membership as requested.
Freeman announced that the cancer insurance would now include sickle cell anemia and cystic fibrosis in its coverage. It is time to get information to the local schools for Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen. Members voted to pay district dues and a $20 donation to District 9’s basket fundraiser. Donation to cancer aid and research is still $2 per member.
The Luau is Sat., Sept. 11. Jr. Vice President Farris made a motion to pass the remaining prizes from the Trivia Night to the Luau’s silent auction. The motion passed.
Conductress Pruitt reminded all that Thurs., Aug. 12 is the Bingo game at the St. James Veterans Home. Last month several youngsters were helping, to the great delight of the veterans. Meet in the downstairs hall at 12:30 p.m. Skipper did the purchasing once again.
President Freeman has some cancer pins for $3 each.
The next meeting is Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
