On Friday, the Sullivan Garden Club presented its annual Citation of Commendation state award to First State Community Bank, 3 East Springfield Rd.
The award is presented once a year by the club and is given to a commercial or industrial firm, organization, public institution, school, library, church or individual in recognition for landscaping and beautification of an area for the enjoyment of all.
According to Mary Lou Hubble and Irene Ruble, citation co-chairs, First State Community Bank meets these qualifications and sets a proud example for the community.
“I want to congratulate the bank on this award and every time you drive by this facility you feel good as the landscaping is done beautifully,” said Hubble. “Sullivan needs this type of beauty and recognition. I’m really proud of Tim Peterson and the bank for taking an interest in the beautification of this business and the city, even in these tough economic times.”
The Sullivan Garden Club has been presenting this award in Sullivan for more than 25 years.
The award also recognized the efforts of Linda and Sonny Blankenship who landscape and maintain the property for First State Community Bank.
Hubble and Ruble presented the award to the Blankenships and bank representative, Debbie Koch, on Friday.
