The Sullivan Fire Department continues to help raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness and will hold a benefit softball tournament on Sat., Aug. 14.
According to Sullivan Fire Chief Rich White, this fundraiser is an ongoing effort of the firefighters this summer and fall to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research.
“We are still currently selling Sullivan Fire/Breast Cancer Awareness t-shirts along with raffle tickets for a .12 gauge Remington shotgun and handmade quilt with all proceeds benefiting breast cancer,” said White. “The firefighters also wanted to host a benefit softball tournament with all proceeds benefiting breast cancer research and awareness.”
The tournament will be held at Campbell-Chapman Sports Complex on Aug. 14, beginning at 9 a.m. The cost for each team has been set at $25 per team, with anyone being allowed to submit a team.
“Whether it be a fire department, local manufacturer, businesses or a group of friends, we encourage everyone to put a team together for the tournament,” said White. “We hope to have a good turnout and raise money for this very important cause.”
The Sullivan Parks and Recreation Department will be operating a concession stand with food and drinks during the tournament.
