The Ninth District Junior Legion All-Stars will play for bragging rights on Saturday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark when the south meets the north.
Washington Post 218 will be the most represented for the south division. Three players will be in the starting lineup from Post 218.
Jack Kopman will start at third base. Kopman batted .318 for Post 218 and was second on the team with 29 RBIs.
Outfielders Trent Leimkuehler and Sam Deschenes will also start for the south division.
Leimkuhler batted .404 this summer with 13 doubles, six triples, one home run and 35 RBIs.
Deschenes batted .326 with four doubles, a triple and 15 RBIs.
Two players from Warrenton will start.
Chris Hertel will be in the outfield for the south division. He batted .418 this season.
His teammate, Greg Hobusch, also batted .418. Hobusch will be the designated hitter.
Daniel Boone, Pacific, Union and Sullivan each have one player in the starting lineup.
Kyle Nelson will start at shortstop, representing Daniel Boone. Nelson led his team in hitting with a .385 average and drew 22 walks.
Andrew David gets the start at first base and he will represent Pacific Post 320.
David had a terrific season for Pacific in 2010, batting .398, leading the team with 19 walks, hitting five doubles and driving in 15 runs.
Tyler Johnson gets the start at second base, representing Union. Johnson hit .400 and had 11 doubles and three triples.
Second Team
Second team infielders include Jared Mohesky, Blake Foster, Joe Toeniskoetter, Austin Coleman and Tanner Brown.
Mohesky will represent Washington at first base. He batted .310 with two doubles and eight RBIs.
Foster will play second base and represent Daniel Boone. He hit .369 and drove in 18 runs this season.
Toeniskoetter represents Central and will play third base behind Kopman.
He was the team’s leading hitter in 2010, with a .426 batting average. He was tied for the team lead in RBIs with 14.
Coleman will be at shortstop, backing up Nelson. He batted .321 for Post 18 in 2010.
Second team outfielders will be J.T. Waller of Sullivan, Tanner Brown of Pacific and Glenn Konnersmann of Daniel Boone.
Waller batted .340 for Post 18 and had seven doubles with 11 RBIs.
Brown had only 36 plate appearances, but batted .433 for Pacific.
Konnersmann hit .368, with a team-high 30 RBIs. He also led his team in doubles with nine.
Jack Haddox will be the back-up designated hitter. He hit .368 for Washington with five doubles and 15 RBIs.
Alternates
Eric Smurl, Warrenton, Alex Jasper, Washington, Travis Vaught, Central, Taevan Schad, Central, and Alex Baylard, Washington will be alternates on the infield.
Steven Jones, Union, Jason Bunge, Warrenton, and Dustin Howard, Washington, will be outfield alternates.
Alex Erb of Central will be the alternate DH.
Pitchers
Warrenton, Washington and Pacific will each have two pitchers representing them on the mound.
For Warrenton, they will be represented by Chad Berrey and Jake Shough.
Berrey was 2-2 with a 2.33 ERA. Opponents batted .215 off of him.
Shough was 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA and he held opponents to just a .205 average.
Austin Retke and Brendan Kleekamp will take the mound for Washington.
Retke was 5-0 and had a sparkling 1.17 ERA.
Kleekamp was 4-3 with a 3.00 ERA.
Pacific will send Nathan Bruns and Josh Conley as their pitching representatives.
Bruns was 4-0 and had a 2.87 ERA. He allowed opponents to hit just .167 and did not allow an extra base hit in five starts.
Conley was 5-0 and had a 2.50 ERA. Opponents hit a shade under .200 against him.
Logan Williams will represent Union.
Williams was 2-4, but had a 1.80 ERA and allowed only three extra base hits. All three were doubles.
Cody Craven will represent the Central Spartans.
He was 3-2 and had a 1.66 ERA. No batter had an extra base hit against Craven in 2010.
He struck out 53 batters in 38 innings.
Seth Mesey will be the lone Post 18 pitcher. He was 5-2 with a 4.17 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 42 innings for Sullivan.
Garrett Hedges was 4-4 with a 1.67 ERA. He held batters to a .174 average for Daniel Boone.
