Rosie Bell Shivers went home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2010 in Sullivan, MO at the age of 91 years, 2 months, and 2 days.
Rosie was born in Indian Creek, Mo on June 13, 1919 to the late Jessie James and Lillie (Owens) Lamkey. Rosie was united in marriage to Archie Shivers on July 26, 1936 and to this union five children were born. Rosie and Archie celebrated 51 years of marriage before his death in 1987.
Rosie was a dedicated and loving servant to the Lord; she was a member of the St. James Assembly of God Church where she attended for over 40 years before her failing health moved her to her daughter, Imogene’s, home in Sullivan, MO, where she then attended the Sullivan Assembly of God Church. She taught Sunday school at the St. James Assembly of God Church for 37 years and knew the most important part of her job was to teach the first and second grade girls the Word of God.
Rosie worked at the Missouri Veterans Home for 25 years. She retired in 1986 due to her husband’s failing health. She knew she needed to be with him.
That’s just how Rosie was; a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Rosie loved reading her Bible every day. She enjoyed walking, cooking for her family and friends, and gardening. Rosie loved growing flowers and always had a nice big vegetable garden that she shared with family and friends.
