As first reported by the Salem News on Wednesday, William Camm Seay, circuit court judge of the 42nd Judicial Court, has resigned and will accept the Crawford County Democratic Party’s nomination for prosecuting attorney after current prosecutor Sid Pearson announced he was withdrawing last Friday.
Pearson has been in office since 1999.
Seay is a Dent County native and a former Dent County prosecuting attorney. He has lived in Crawford County for the past three years.
He was elected as circuit court judge in 1994 and re-elected in 2000 and 2006. His current term would expire at the end of 2012.
Republicans cannot nominate a candidate since no one signed up during the filing period.
