Dear Editor:
I’d like to let the community know about a fantastic opportunity for Mercy patients—both those who see a Mercy physician today, and those who choose a Mercy physician in the future. Mercy has introduced MyMercy, an online tool that allows patients to take an active role in their healthcare.
MyMercy allows patients to view their health history and test results, schedule doctor’s appointments, request medication refills, send and receive messages with their physicians and manage the care of their minor children and elderly parents. While those are just a few options, you can see how this is much more than just an ordinary website. It is a service that brings information, convenience and peace of mind into the hectic lives of so many people.
Consider how often your child’s school needs immunization records. With MyMercy, you can print them from home the day its due. Think about using your Smartphone to view your test results instead of calling your physician’s office. Using the “proxy” option, you can even monitor your elderly father’s medications to make sure he is taking the right pill at the right dose at the right time. You can do all of these things with MyMercy.
MyMercy is available through Mercy’s 450 primary care physicians, including those of us in Eureka, Gerald, Pacific, Union and Washington. To sign up for MyMercy, patients just need to ask their Mercy primary care physician for an “activation letter.” The letter will offer instructions and an activation code to enter into the MyMercy website.
This is an exciting technology that will revolutionize and improve the way patients access their medical information and communicate with their physicians. I’m proud to be a part of a healthcare organization that offers it. I know it will make a huge difference in the lives of my patients and, at Mercy, making a difference is what we’re all about.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Scheer,
