Glen Briggs

Glen Mitchell Briggs of Stanton, MO was born on September 16, 1916 in Cook Station, MO to Joseph Henry and Della Sarah (nee Vaughn) Briggs and passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 in Fenton, MO at the age of 93 years.
Glen was united in marriage to Mary M. Leonard on November 6, 1942.
He proudly served in the United States Army from April 1945 until June 1946.
Glen retired in August of 1981 after 30 years of dedicated service as a Railroad Crossing Watchman for the Wabash Railroad, which became the Norfork and Western Railroad. Glen and Mary moved to Stanton, MO 27 years ago and became members of the First Baptist Church of Stanton where he served as a Deacon for 25 years. He spent his retirement years helping with the church and the members became part of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and  Della Briggs; wife, Mary; sons-in-law, James Piotraschke and Roy Williams; sisters, Pauline Quinley and husband, Wilbur, and Gladys Roberts and husband, Joe; brothers, Maurice Briggs and wife, Ethel, and Norman Briggs and wife, Bertha; other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Dorothy Piotraschke of St. Clair, MO and Mary Black and husband, Ed, of Stanton, MO; five grandchildren, James Roger Piotraschke, Jr. of St. Clair, MO, Michael Piotraschke of St. Peters, MO, Lisa Albers and husband, Jacob, of Belleville, IL, Timothy Williams and fiancée, Jennifer, of St. Louis, MO and Brian Black and wife, Amanda, of Sullivan, MO; one great-grandchild, Madison Black of Sullivan, MO; other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Glen Briggs was held on Friday, August 6, 2010 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Stanton in Stanton, MO.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Stanton, Stanton, MO.
Interment and prayers were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the New Hope Cemetery, Salem, MO, with full military honors.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, MO.
