Farmers will have the opportunity to learn more about truck regulations that may affect them in a program sponsored by University of Missouri Extension. Meetings will be held on Aug. 23 at the University of Missouri Extension Center in St. Peters and Aug. 24 in the lower level of the Memorial Auditorium in Union. Each meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and wrap up around noon.
Bill Hampton with Missouri Department of Transportation will provide the program. Hampton will discuss truck regulations farmers need to follow to avoid violations and fines. In the final hour of the program, Hampton will point out inspection points on trucks that will be at each program. This will give farmers an idea of the things to look for on their own trucks.
“Farmers are increasingly transporting their own commodities, and truck sizes have also grown in recent years,” said Matt Herring, University of Missouri Extension agronomy specialist. “This program will offer farmers information they need to meet MoDOT credentialing and safety requirements.”
For more information about the St. Peters program, contact Scott Killpack at (636) 970-3000 and, for the Union program, contact Herring at (636) 583-5141. University of Missouri Extension programs are open to all.
