Cynthia S. Windes of Sullivan, MO passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the age of 99 years.
Mrs. Windes was born on January 15, 1911 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Robert Calvin and Sarah Estelle (Freeman) Young. She had lived most of her life in the Fremont, MO area and on September 26, 1928 was married to Everett B. Windes, Sr. in Eminence, MO. Everett preceded Cynthia in death after 51-plus years of marriage on February 25, 1980.
She enjoyed flower gardening and sewing; especially making quilts.
Her passion, however, was her family and her many grandchildren.
She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Sullivan.
She is survived by three sons, Everett B. Windes, Jr. and wife, Juanita, of Dittmer, MO, James R. Windes and wife, Betty R., of House Springs, MO and Joe David Windes and wife, Faye, of High Ridge, MO; one daughter, Shirley Caldwell and husband, David, of Sullivan, MO; a daughter-in-law, Betty V. Windes of House Springs, MO; one sister, Marge Craggett of Baxter Springs, KS; 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Windes was preceded in death by a son, Paul; six brothers, Lee, Charlie, Callie, Les, Mike and Dick Young; three sisters, Goldie Medley, Jackie (Toots) Haas and Cora Tilley; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Cynthia Windes were conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Williams officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Site Cemetery, Fremont, MO.
