The Sullivan School District will open the 2010-11 school year on Tues., Aug. 17.
According to school officials, changes in the bus schedules will be released next week to the Sullivan Independent News as one entire bus route has been eliminated due to budget cuts.
At Sullivan High School, freshman parent orientation will be held in the Sullivan High School theater on Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. with freshman orientation held on Aug. 10 in the school gym from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Senior registration and pictures will be held on Aug. 11 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Junior registration and pictures from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Sophomore registration and pictures from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Sullivan Middle School will hold the 6th grade orientation on Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with an open house for all students and parents on Aug. 12 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
New student enrollment for SMS will be held on Aug. 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Further announcements on the upcoming school year will be released as they become available.
The Sullivan Independent News “Back-to-School” special section will appear in the Wed., Aug. 4 issue. The section will have lists of student supplies for various schools in the local area along with other important information.
