Crawford Electric Cooperative’s recent charity golf tournament raised nearly $15,000 for Missouri Baptist-Sullivan Hospital’s cancer unit. The annual tournament, held this year on June 25 at the Sullivan Country Club, drew 62 teams for the worthwhile event.
Proceeds came from registrations, hole sponsors, food sales, silent auctions, special promotions and generous cash donations. Local businesses and individuals chipped in by donating prizes and giveaways for participants. Prizes could be won on each of the 18 holes for different challenges such as longest putt, closest to the pin and longest drive. Two holes had grand prizes for a hole-in-one.
A special feature at this year’s tournament challenged the accuracy of players. For $5, a golfer got three chances to chip a ball into a boat that was moored in the middle of a lake. Those skilled enough to score a direct hit won $20, although the few who actually hit the boat generously donated their winnings back to the tournament.
The winning teams were: Championship Flight – Dave Gutknecht, Ernie Floyd and Ben Gibson; A Flight – Kelly Krueger, Howard Hinson and Scott Perry; B Flight – Curtis Mueller, Cade Jones and Ethan Jones; C Flight – Jerry Wellington, Bud Rogers and Randy Dudley.
Crawford Electric appreciates all sponsors, players and donors for helping to make the tournament a success.
