Myrtine McMahan

Myrtine (Vieten) McMahan passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010 at the age of 91 years.
Myrtine was born on September 21, 1918 in Leslie, MO to Benjamin and Frances A. (Manion) Vieten. Myrtine attended Spring Bluff Grade School and graduated from Sullivan High School. She was married to Gilbert McMahan on September 25, 1941.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Ursch and husband, Glen; two grandchildren, Tammy Koch and husband, Christopher, of St. Louis, MO and Tina Brown of Leslie, MO; three great-grandchildren, Justin Brown, Michelle Koch and Faith Taylor.
Myrtine was a homemaker and most of her life lived on the family farm. She attended Evergreen Baptist Church until she was unable. Myrtine was known for driving children to Vacation Bible School, especially around the Evergreen Loop area.
She loved to garden, sew, read and also wrote some poetry. Myrtine was a leader in the Spring Bluff 4-H Club for many years. She also enjoyed going to her club meetings with many friends over the years.
She remembered the family history of several families in the community and was always ready to give information and show pictures to anyone.
Myrtine was close to her nieces and nephews, especially the Vietens, and the Vieten boys who all lived within a mile. She had many visits, letters, and calls from all nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews over the years.
Along with her parents, Myrtine was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, in January of 2008; two brothers, Emery and Bryce Vieten. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services for Myrtine McMahan were conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO, with Pastor Warren Brewer officiating.  Interment was in the Old Cave Spring Cemetery.
