Seventy-three students graduated from Bourbon High School on Thursday night, bringing an end to the class of 2010.
Speakers for the senior class were: class president, Alice Roach; salutatorian, Allison Bosse; and valedictorian, Lucas Sheets.
Scholarships were presented from the Cattlemen’s Association, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Cuba Lion’s Club.
High school counselor Michelle Ray presented the remainder of the scholarships and presented the class’s top 10 percent.
Assistant high school principal Kim Peterson presented the 36 students who had qualified for A+.
Speeches were also given by high school principal Skip Hale and superintendent Dr. Tom Sharp.
The Bourbon High School band provided the “Pomp and Circumstance” and students left the gymnasium to “Stay Young” by We The Kings.
2010 Bourbon graduates received over $110,000 in scholarships this year.
Allison Bosse – $2,000 from Missouri S&T Miner Scholarship and $150 from Warhawk Sports Booster Athletic Scholarship.
Dylan DeScheda – $500 from Cuba Lions Club.
Kyle Donovan – $150 from the Warhawk Sports Boosters Athletic Scholarship.
Christie Fritz – $500 from the Cattlemen’s Association.
Erica Hartwick – $600 from Town and Country Bank and $300 from American Legion.
Samantha Henson – $750 from Ozark Coca-Cola Scholars, $600 from Town and Country Bank, $500 from Crawford County Fair Board and $500 from the Cattlemen’s Association.
Zachary Korando – $14,000 from University of Missouri-Columbia Curators (4 years) and $7,300 from East Central College Art Department (declined).
Kendra Ball – $500 from the Cuba Free Press.
Janae Rennaker – $2,000 from MFA Foundation, $500 from National City Bank, $250 from the Bourbon Teacher Association and $250 from MSTA.
Lucas Sheets – $36,000 from Ohio State University (4 years, declined), $14,000 from University of Missouri (declined), $12,452 from Truman State University for Truman Leadership (per year), $2,000 from Bright Flight Scholarship, $305 from Truman State University for Truman Week Award.
Brian Taylor – $300 from American Legion.
Tyanna Tillett – $8,000 from Newman University (declined) and $150 from Warhawk Sports Booster Athletic Scholarship.
Suzy Turner – $500 from National Academy of Beauty Arts.
Orin Walker – $1,000 from Sullivan Fraternal Order of Eagles, $1,000 from Kathy J. Caldwell-Spicer Memorial, $500 from South Community Credit Union and $500 from Elmer Cowan Memorial Award (Sullivan Rotary Club).
Sarah Wood – $600 from Bourbon Parent/Teacher Organization.
