KIDS CARE MEALS FOR HAITI. This is a picture of many of the volunteers who packed 37,000 nutritious meals for the earthquake victims in Haiti. The event took place at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rolla.
This group from Bourbon, along with many others, worked on Sunday afternoon, May 16, to pack 37,000 nutritious meals for the earthquake victims in Haiti.
When the project was first conceived, they thought it might be impossible; but, with the concentrated efforts of Mary and Tom Buhrkuhl, other members of Thrivent from the 10 district Lutheran Churches, and other volunteers including these Boy Scouts and their leaders from Bourbon’s Troop 429, the job was completed.
More than $9,000 was collected to pay for the supplies.
The event took place at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rolla, and despite the pouring down rain and gloomy weather, about 200 volunteers finished the packing and the many boxes of food were packed into a tractor-trailer to begin the journey to their destination in Haiti.
