John Carl Landing of Leasburg, MO passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the age of 83 years.
Carl, as he was known by family and friends, was born in Franklin County, MO to the late John and Sarah (Taylor) Landing on August 28, 1926. He honorably served his counry with the United States Army from January 5, 1945 to March 6, 1947. He was united in marriage to Frances Cuneio and one daughter, Carla, was born to their union.
Carl was employed by the former International Shoe Company, owned a service station and was also employed by Meramec Mining Company, Wright Tree Service, Schatz Underground for many years and, lastly, Strauser Drug.
Carl loved to travel; especially to Colorado, his favorite place. He always had a travel trailer and spent most weekends at various lakes around Missouri. He taught everyone how to water ski and spent many hours in the hot sun circling his grandchildren, nieces and nephews with the boat. Carl also enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid card player, especially Rummy and Rook.
He was always competitive and was never known to have lost a game of Badminton. Carl loved his family and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by one daughter, Carla Beckett and husband, Richard, of Sullivan, MO; three grandchildren, Brian Beckett and wife, Tricia, of Sullivan, MO, John Beckett and wife, Abbey, of Camdenton, MO, and Brandon Beckett of Sullivan, MO; four great-grandchildren, Kayla, J.C., Karsen and Kacey Beckett; one sister, Mary Gaskill of Sullivan, MO; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Landing.
Funeral services for Carl Landing were conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO, with Pastor Scott Perry officiating.
