Hermann’s Shelby Winkelmann, who averaged 28 points and led her Lady Bearcats to the Class 3 quarterfinals, was named the All-Area Girls Player of the Year.
Her coach, Todd Anderson, was chosen as the Coach of the Year. Borgia’s Stacia Parsell was second and Brad Conway of St. James was third.
Pacific’s Anna Vogt was the only other girls player to get a unanimous selection.
Other first team selections are:
Borgia’s Maggie Vossbrink, who helped the Lady Knights reach the Class 4 quarterfinals.
St. Clair’s Courtney Pursley, who was a uanimous Four Rivers Conference first team selection.
St. James’ Rachel Connell, a unanimous first team selection in the Four Rivers Conference.
On the second team are:
Sullivan’s Carissa Richardson, a first team Four Rivers Conference pick. She averaged double digits in scoring and rebounding.
St. Clair’s Drew Kamper, who was a first team Four Rivers Conference selection.
New Haven’s Kayla Oetterer, a Four Rivers Conference selection.
St. Clair’s Bry Pierce, a Four Rivers Conference honorable mention.
Hermann’s Ashley Brooks, a unanimous first team selection in the Four Rivers Conference.
The honorable mentions are: Borgia’s Katie Thomas and Jodi Klott; Washington’s Melissa Beste and Jamie Kuddes; St. James’ Brittany Harris-Conway; Owensville’s Katie Davis and Liz Tate; Pacific’s Linda Watson; Hermann’s Lacey Lackman and Union’s Rachael Bassett.
The Missourian has conducted voting for All-Area teams since the 1990-1991 season. Coaches from the Four Rivers Conference, Washington and Borgia, and media members from the area take part in the voting.
