The Sullivan City Council was scheduled to meet on Tues., Apr. 6 for the first of their two meetings in April, with requests and petitions and two ordinances topping the meeting.
The council was scheduled to hear requests and petitions from the Harney Mansion Foundation and the Meramec Community Fair Board for temporary liquor licenses. The Harney Mansion event is scheduled for June 5 and the fair requests were for June 24-26.
There was also expected to be requests to speak regarding the utility rates in Sullivan from several individuals.
The council was scheduled to receive reports from the Planning and Zoning Board, Cultural Grant Committee and Airport Board.
The two ordinances before the council were:
Ordinance 3389, which would allow customers of the City of Sullivan utilities to voluntarily participate in contributing the sum of one cent to 99 cents per month to the “Round Up” program. Contributions are to be preceded by an application signed by the utility customer authorizing the city to round up the total utility bill to the next full dollar, which will become the amount due from the utility customer and payable as that customer’s bill.
Customers must be current on all city accounts in order to participate. The funds will then be dispersed to the Sullivan Energy Assistance program to aid those in need. The ordinance was sponsored by Alderman Paul McCulloch.
Ordinance 3390 would approve an additional $443,525 grant for the purpose of completing the master plan/airport layout plan update for land acquisition services at the Sullivan Regional Airport. The city’s portion is not to exceed $23,343. The original grant was for $193,073, with the city’s portion being $10,162. The ordinance was sponsored by Alderman Tom Leasor.
The council did have a closed session posted that included real estate, litigation and personnel.
