Katie Wells Chosen For 2010 Missouri Agribusiness Academy

katie-wellsThe Missouri Department of Agriculture announced recently that a select group of high school sophomores from across Missouri have been chosen to participate in the 23rd Annual Missouri Agribusiness Academy, a career and leadership building opportunity honoring students interested in pursuing careers in agriculture.
Katie Wells, of Sullivan, was selected as one of 30 members for the 2010 Agribusiness Academy to be held in June. Wells is a student at Sullivan High School and is the daughter of Cavada and Penny Wells.
“I congratulate Katie for being selected as one of this year’s Agribusiness Academy members,” said Director of Agriculture, Dr. Jon Hagler. “The students chosen each year are young leaders in academics and their communities. This experience will provide valuable business connections and leadership skills to help them further explore their career options in agriculture.”
Each year, the Agribusiness Academy introduces 30 students to career opportunities available in agriculture offering them opportunities explore resources  across the state. Academy members meet with leaders in the industry, government and education where they are given a better understanding of the rewarding career options they have ahead of them.
This year, Agribusiness Academy members will tour Springfield area agribusiness operations during a weeklong event in June.
The Missouri Agribusiness Academy was first established in 1988 and annually awards memberships to high school sophomores through a competitive written application and interview process.
