Following the Feb. 16 meeting, the Bourbon aldermen agreed to meet for a workshop session held Mar. 2.
The meeting was expected to center around police and court issues that were brought to the board on Feb. 16.
Bourbon police chief, Don Taylor, told the board at that meeting that the department was spending too much money on vehicle maintenance. Taylor estimated that over $14,000 was spent on repairs in the past year.
He showed the board examples of what the department would ideally like to have. Taylor would prefer the city to purchase two new cars to replace the two cars that are consistently breaking down.
The board suggested purchasing one new car and leaving one of the old cars as a spare.
The aldermen were also expected to discuss a wage increase for court clerk Sandy Martin. Martin has taken on work that was done by former police clerk Bobbie Zimmerman and Taylor felt that she deserved an increase.
Hiring part-time help was to be discussed as one possibility from putting too much work on Martin.
The board was also to discuss a request to hire a new officer and building repairs at the police department.
Two other items were listed on the tentative agenda under old business.
The city hall renovations were expected to be discussed. Mayor Leonard Armstrong spoke briefly on the renovations at the Feb. 16 meeting.
Monty Todd was expected to talk about the DNR Collections System Inspection.
A closed session was scheduled to be held after the workshop. After the session ends, the board was expected to call open session back to order since they may take action.
