Washington Women’s Healthcare will host “Urinary Incontinence: Ready to Take Control of Your Life Before Summer Comes?” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thurs., Mar. 18. The event will be held in Suite 328 in the St. John’s Mercy Medical Building, 851 East Fifth Street in Washington.
Dr. Robert Haskins, Jr., an obstetrician and gynecologist, will lead the discussion.
When it comes to urinary incontinence:
• Urinary incontinence is the loss of bladder control.
• Among women ages 18 to 45, 19 percent have urine control problems.
• Symptoms can range from mild leaking to uncontrollable wetting.
• One in three women over the age of 60 have bladder control problems.
• Infections, constipation, weak or overactive bladder muscles, certain medications and other issues may cause incontinence.
• In most cases, urinary incontinence can be treated, controlled or cured.
The informational session will be a lively and educational event for women and the men who love them. Guests will have the opportunity to ask their questions and enjoy refreshments and a tour of the recently remodeled medical office. They also will have a chance to win attendance prizes.
