Blood donations provide life support for patients at St. John’s Mercy. All presenting donors will receive a T-shirt. Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with permission from a parent or legal guardian, and no older than 78 years of age. They must be at least 110 pounds and in good health. All donors should allow eight weeks between donations.
St. John’s Mercy Hospital also works with area schools, churches, businesses and other organizations to collect life-saving blood products from generous donors. St. John’s Mercy Blood Donor Services is the only mobile, hospital-based, blood collection center in the state of Missouri. Being mobile means bringing services to people’s places of business, worship or school. The service allows the hospital to collect life-saving blood supplies from the community, for the community at a portion of the cost.
