James Albert Messex of Sullivan, MO passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the age of 69 years.
James was born in Richwoods, MO on November 4, 1940 to Albert and Emma (Smith) Messex. He was raised around the Union, MO area and later entered the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Airman 2nd Class. James was honorably discharged on July 9, 1964. On December 27, 1962, he was united in marriage to Molly M. Boyer in High Ridge, MO.
James was employed as a heavy equipment operator through I.B.E.W. Local 2 and later retired from Sachs Electric.
He enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing and hunting. He was an accomplished billiards player and found pleasure in gardening and farming. He loved his family and the company of his grandchildren and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Molly, of the family home; one son, Rusty Messex and wife, Christie, of Sullivan; one daughter, Tina Burkhardt and husband, Frank, of Sullivan; one brother, Arlis Messex and wife, Mary Ann, of Richwoods, MO; two sisters, Jean Elmore of Union, MO and Cathy Crews of Gerald, MO; four grandchildren, Heidi Burkhardt, William Burkhardt, Marissa and Sarah Messex; one great-grandchild, Jersey Burkhardt; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents, Mr. Messex was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Herrington.
Memorial funeral services for James Messex were conducted at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating.
