The Missouri Dept. of Conservation has a new registration process for Hunter Education courses in the St. Louis and Central Regions. Instead of calling a phone number and signing up for a course, students must now go online and register by way of the Internet.
This new procedure is not statewide yet and is only being tested in two regions. The St. Louis Region covers eight counties including Crawford, Washington, Franklin and Jefferson.
Note: Registration will close seven days prior to any course on the schedule and no late registrations will be taken.
There will be a Hunter Education Course offered at the Temple Baptist Church, 444 Beeman St., in Sullivan on Mar. 15, 16 and 18 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. all three nights. The course will be twelve (12) hours total and students must attend all three nights and the full amount of time to be Hunter Safety certified.
Following are the steps to register for this course online:
1. Go to: http://mdc.mo.gov/hunt/huntered/
2. Click on the St. Louis Region when you see the Missouri map.
3. Click on “Missouri Hunter Education Classroom Course”
4. A calendar will pop up. Go to the month of March. You can type the city and state, zip code or county to retrieve this class. Or, go to the month of March and click on Mar. 15. (More than one course may be scheduled for that time. Click on the Temple Baptist Church course and read all the information).
5. Follow all of the instructions provided to complete the registration form. This is important; because upon completion of the course, this information will be on your Heritage Card and mailed to the address that you provide.
Only those students eleven (11) years of age or older may be Hunter Safety certified. Students 15 or younger must bring a birth certificate (or other proof of age) to the course. Students 12 years of age or younger should have an adult guardian (18 years of age or older) attend the course with them.
If you have trouble with registration, contact the Sullivan MDC Office at 573-468-3335 for help.
