A Rosebud teen was fatally injured in a two-vehicle accident early Saturday morning at 2:20 a.m. on Route AC, 3.8 miles west of Highway 185 North.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol the accident occurred when Craig Stack, 20, Bourbon, was operating an eastbound 2002 Dodge Dakota when an eastbound 1995 Ford Escort, traveling too fast for conditions, operated by Nicholas Helton, 21, Rosebud, when the Helton vehicle skidded into the Stack vehicle. The Stack vehicle overturned and came to a rest on the north side of Route AC. The Helton vehicle slid off the south side of the roadway.
Helton was transported by ARCH Helicopter to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, Creve Coeur, but passed away in flight to the hospital.
Both vehicles were a total loss. Helton was not wearing at seatbelt at the time of the accident.
