Crystal Light powdered beverages help women enjoy drinking water every day, which is why they are collaborating with The Nature Conservancy to protect America’s rivers and lakes, our sources of clean, fresh drinking water, including the Meramec River.
Crystal Light will make a splash on World Water Day, Mon., Mar. 22, when it will give to The Nature Conservancy 100 percent of net profits from Crystal Light powdered drink mix products sold that day—no less than $350,000 and up to $750,000.
The funds will help support five priority river and lake projects across the country, including: the Colorado River, Great Lakes Basin, Meramec River (part of the Mississippi river), Potomac River and Southern Rivers.
Following are some specific details about the conservation effort at Meramec River:
· The Meramec River is a key part of the Mississippi River system, the third largest river in the world and one of America’s most iconic bodies of water. The Mississippi River supplies drinking water to more than 15 million people, as well as a habitat for thousands of fish, birds and other wildlife. In fact, more than 30 at-risk fish and other animals call the river home.
· The Crystal Light collaboration with the Conservancy will help support a local outreach campaign to start new on-the-ground conservation projects around the river. These projects will help restore habitats for aquatic life, like the declining mussel population; restore stream banks and floodplains; and manage nutrient and sediment levels that impact animal and plant habitats.
You can contact Nicole Silk, managing director, Global Freshwater Team, The Nature Conservancy and a local representative from the Meramec River to learn more about the efforts taking place.
