Catawissa Man Investigated on Assault and Unlawful Use of a Weapon

On March 19, 2010 at approximately 1:30 AM., the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received information about a possible shooting in the 2000 block of Nike Base Road.  The caller stated that she heard gunshots and feared that her husband shot another male in the residence.

Upon arrival, deputies determined that the female caller was inside the residence with the alleged victim.  The location of the subject alleged to have fired the shots (female caller’s husband)  was unknown.  The Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team was called in to assist.

During the investigation, the female and victim were located and escorted to safety.  It was determined that the victim had not been shot, but struck in the face during an argument with the female’s husband.

The husband was later located in a wooded area near the residence.  A handgun was also found on the ground in the woods.

Deputies determined that the husband had an argument with another male living at the residence with the husband and wife.  During the argument, shots were allegedly fired by the husband however no one had been struck.  The husband stated that he fired the shots in the air.

The husband was taken in to custody for investigation of assault and unlawful use of a weapon.  He is a white male, age 44 from Catawissa.   Further investigation is being conducted.   The victim has refuse prosecution at this time.
