The Bourbon Boosters met at the Bourbon Community Center on Mar. 2.  President Mary Heywood conducted the business meeting.
The first item on the agenda was the upcoming “Meet the Candidates Night” scheduled for Mar. 15 at 7 p.m. at the center.
We were sorry to hear that one of our faithful members, Barb Condren, who always helps with this program had broken her arm, but others volunteered to take over and fill in for her.  Those attending the event will have a chance to listen to the thoughts of the candidates,  to write questions for the candidates and enjoy a period of fellowship with refreshments.  Superintendent Tom Sharp will be the moderator for the evening.
The next spring event will be the annual Easter Egg Hunt to be held in the Bourbon City Park on Apr. 3.  Tammy Armstrong and the Girl Scouts are planning a few new ideas for this year.  The hunt will start at 1 p.m. sharp (instead of the usual noon starting time.) They believe that the later starting time will give parents more time to bring the children.
On Apr. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center, the Boosters will hold the annual Awards Banquet, in conjunction with the Bourbon schools. The meal will be catered by the local Hen House and will feature a choice of baked ham or stuffed chicken breast.
Advance tickets purchased before Apr. 16 will be $10 for adults and $6 for children 3 to 10 years old. Tickets sold at the door will be $12 and $8. Advance tickets will be sold after Apr. 1 at Charleen’s Style House LTD, Peoples Bank, Town and Country Bank and at the school office.
Secretary Alice Bremer explained a program that the Lutheran churches in the area are undertaking to help feed the victims of the Haiti earthquake. The programs asks for funds and volunteers to work at a food packaging event at Rolla on May 16
All interested were asked to contact Mary and Tom Buhrkuhl. Donations made be made to a special account at the Town and Country Bank. They are also collecting walkers, wheelchairs, canes and crutches for the wounded who have lost limbs. If you have said that you wish you could do something for these people, now is your chance.
