Darrell “Red” Higgins of Cape Girardeau, MO passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital at the age of 82 years.
He was born on September 20, 1927 in Sullivan, MO to Guy and Mary Edith Tyre Higgins. He was united in marriage to Betty Griffy on May 17, 1952.
Ray was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and also served in the Missouri Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Cape Girardeau, MO; a sister, Delores Hoover of Sullivan, MO; a sister-in-law Wilma Huhn and husband, Norman, of Cape Girardeau, MO; two brothers-in-law, Louie Griffy of Marston, MO and Charles Griffy and wife, Felicia, of Edgewater, FL; three sisters-in-law, Jean Higgins of Ellisville, MO, Marie Higgins of Cuba, MO and Helen Higgins of Sullivan, MO; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Vernon, Leland and Wayne Higgins.
Visitation for Ray Higgins was held from 11 a.m. to the time of service on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, MO.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2010 with Pastor Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Interment was in Cape County Memorial Park.
