Well No. 3 Update
Nicky Phillips received an e-mail from Ryan Gates on Jan. 13 with responses to Donna Martin’s letter requesting certain revisions be made on the construction of Well No. 3. Phillips said that USDA has an in-house engineer that was questioning some of the specifications Cochran Engineering was recommending. Chris Boone told Phillips that this type of questioning from the lending institution is normal.
Phillips said she was concerned that the project will be over budget by $50,000, but that most of the overages would be depleted through adjustments that have already been deleted out of the original proposals.
She was concerned that the USDA engineer did not find the pitless unit necessary. Cochran provided justification to USDA by reminding them, if not put into place, the village could end up with another situation like Well No. 2.
Due Dates For Utilities
Phillips asked that the due date for utilities be moved from the 10th to the 15th of the month. Several residents told Phillips that the change would best fit their finances. The board agreed to change the date.
Census Bureau
The Census Bureau requested to utilize the village hall for the period of Mar. 19 through Apr. 19 to assist residents in and around the Leasburg area in completing their 2010 Census questionnaires. The board agreed and the Bureau will use the hall during regular business hours.
Overtime Enforcement
Village police officer Mike Smart provided chairperson Kathy Byrd with a contract with the Missouri Safety Center to conduct overtime enforcement activities in DWI enforcement. The contract pledges to reimburse funding of $300 each for St. Patrick’s Day weekend, Cinco de Mayo and Fourth of July weekend.
The contract also pledges to reimburse funding of $500 for the “You Drink and Drive You Lose” campaign during the period of Aug. 20 to Sept. 6.
After a brief discussion, the board agreed to let Smart work the dates provided.
