Malcolm Charles McEwen of Sullivan, MO departed this life on January 26, 2010 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, having reached the age of 84 years and 23 days.
He was born on January 3, 1926 in St. Louis, MO, a son to the late Charles McEwen and Genivie (Hinch) McEwen.
Malcolm served in the United States Army from 1944-1946. Some of the medals he received were the World War II Victory Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp and Good Conduct Medal.
Malcolm was a member of the VFW in Sullivan.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are a daughter, Karen Elaine Taylor of Sullivan; four sons, Malcolm Charles McEwen, Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Florida, Gerald Lester McEwen and wife, Maggy, of Potosi; Larry Allen McEwen and wife, Alma, of Park Hills; and Ronald Keith McEwen and wife, Janet, of Sullivan; two sisters, Violet Jarvis of DeSoto and Mildred Ames of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
In addition to his parents, Malcolm was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel McEwen, and a son, Robert Lynn McEwen.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at the DeClue Family Chapel with Rev. Warren Smith officiating. Interment and final prayers were held at New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, MO.
All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
