A felony theft charge against Bourbon R-1 School Board president, Darrel Bosse, 51, were dismissed on Jan. 13.
Prosecuting Attorney Sid Pearson entered a nolle prosequi and the case could still be reopened.
The charge was filed on Aug. 28, 2009 in Crawford County Circuit Court by Bosse’s former employer, Clyde Cremer of American Log Homes. Cremer alleged that Bosse received payments from customers totaling over $25,000 and failed to deposit said payments into the company account. On Sept. 28, Bosse was arrested.
In a letter from Bosse’s attorney, David Smith, Cremer was repeatedly asked to provide documentation and proof to support his sworn accusations, but it was never provided.
Smith wrote, “There is a history of contention between Mr. Bosse and Mr. Cremer, which came to a head when civil lawsuits were filed against each other over issues related to their prior business relationship.”
The suits were mutually dismissed. In a last ditch effort to damage Bosse, Smith wrote that Cremer initiated the criminal prosecution.
Bosse has not worked for American Log Homes since 2006.
Smith wrote that Bosse endured five months of stress, humiliation and fear of a false accusation that could have put him in prison for 15 years and that his reputation has been damaged.
During this time, Bosse has remained on the Bourbon School Board.
