West Brothers Chrysler, Ford/GM and Kingdom Kia have announced that they are involved in the Adopt-A-Soldier program and have adopted three soldiers for the duration of their tour to protect America.
Maggie West, director of Customer Care, stated Friday, “Really, this was my brother, Laury West, Jr.’s, idea to get involved in this program. We have two of our cousins serving overseas and we thought our dealerships should get involved in this program. We’re hoping to send our first care packages over to them by Fri., Dec. 4, and then we will continue to send items to them as long as they are serving on their tours.”
According to West, the dealerships have adopted three soldiers, including two female soldiers and one male soldier. The soldiers are selected at random by the Adopt-A-Soldier program.
Those adopted include:
Chrysler dealership - SSG Melaine Parker from Fort Hood, TX. She writes that it is hard being away from her family and to have someone supporting them is magnificent. She feels blessed to have individuals out there that care.
Ford/GM dealerships - Spc. Allen Glover, 28, from Florida, writes that this Adopt-A-Soldier program is a great thing and he is excited to now be a part of it. He loves the Florida Gators and also baseball including being a Cubs fan. He loves to read books and magazines, play video games, and is on his second deployment. He has a wife and a two-year-old daughter back home.
Kingdom Kia dealership - Cpt. Elaina Hill, from Texas, writes thank you so much for supporting us soldiers while we are here. It is very much appreciated.
West stated that anyone who would like to donate some items to be sent over in the first care package may do so and may call her at 573-468-3178 for a list of items being sought. This first package will be sent on Fri., Dec. 4 to be overseas by Christmas.
West stated that they hope to send cards and letters of support along with care packages as often as possible.
