A big run in the fourth quarter helped the Waynesville Lady Tigers get past Sullivan, 41-33, on Monday night, dropping the Lady Eagles to 0-2.
Sierra Fuchs led Sullivan with 14 points on 5-11 shooting. Four of her five field goals were three-pointers. Fuchs also recorded a team-high six steals.
Chelsea Strauser had seven points and four rebounds.
Sullivan led 10-8 at the end of the first quarter, then both teams slipped into a scoring funk in the second quarter. The Lady Eagles held a 16-12 lead at halftime.
The lead held tight to the fourth quarter, with Sullivan ahead, 27-23. That was when Waynesville went on their big run, outscoring the Lady Eagles, 18-6, in the game’s final quarter. They took their first lead with five minutes to play.
For Waynesville, it was their first win of the season. Niki House scored a game-high 16 points. Alicia Cook and Mariah Wilder each had eight points.
Bria Bartolotta, Jessica Heinle and Olivia Louderman each scored four points for the Lady Eagles. Sullivan shot 35 percent from the field, an improvement from their opening game against Salem.
Sullivan attempted 17 three-pointers and only six free throws, hitting three. They also turned the ball over 26 times.
