Lifelong Sullivan resident and businessman, Dave Schatz, is looking to make a difference in Jefferson City as he announced this week that he will seek the Republican nomination for the Missouri House 111th District seat.
Charlie Schlottach, present 111th District Representative, is term limited out and cannot seek reelection.
Schatz is married to wife, Chara, and they have five children, David, Daniel, Devon, Dana and Dailee.
“We formed a committee about a month ago and thought it was time to get things moving,” said Schatz Friday. “There’s several reasons why I decided to get involved in politics. My father was involved in politics for sometime and I really don’t like what’s going on at the federal level. I feel it’s time to get involved and bring some commonsense approaches.”
Schatz stated that he feels that politicians need to be physically responsible with tax dollars and the way they are being spent.
“As a business owner, I know firsthand that you have to watch and take care of money,” said Schatz. “We need to take better care of taxpayer dollars. I believe that if I don’t get involved, who will. I believe I can take care of the job and bring a lot of experience to the position.”
Gerald Medlin will serve on the Schatz committee as Treasurer.
“We have gotten a lot of support, so far, and will need even more as we begin to push forward with this campaign,” said Schatz. “There are a lot of people enthused that I’m going to run for office.”
Schatz has served the local area in many ways during his life in Sullivan, serving on the Spring Bluff School Board, church board, coaching several different sporting teams, from football to soccer to basketball. He is still active in coaching basketball at Spring Bluff School.
Schatz stated that he is pro-life and pro-gun supporting our Second Amendment rights.
“I feel that I’m a strong conservative across the board,” said Schatz.
Schatz is the owner of Schatz Underground Cable and feels that he can devote the time needed for the position in the Missouri House.
“My son will graduate college this year and will step in to help with the business and I have some very good employees so I feel I can devote the time needed to this position, if elected,” said Schatz.

Tried to find some more information last week after reading the article in the paper. I wouldn’t promote a link to a Web site that isn’t even up. Good luck running a successful campaign…
