On Tues., Nov. 17, the Franklin County Commission moved forward with plans to renovate the historic county courthouse in downtown Union.
The commission approved advertising for companies to provide: general works, fire protection, plumbing, mechanical work and electrical work.
All bids must be received by 1 p.m. on Tues., Jan. 12, with bids opened at 2 p.m. on Jan. 12.
Bid specifications can be obtained through the Franklin County Clerk or Paric Corporation.
The historic courthouse, built in the 1920s, is in need of complete renovation and includes wiring and plumbing operations that are more than 40 years old.
The renovation project is not expected to begin for several months.
