Three sisters who love shopping and finding bargains have brought their love to their own business, Three Sisters Resale and Consignment, has opened in the former Horse and Tack building in Stanton at 2475 North Service Rd.
Judy Gellerman, Sullivan, Gloria Conaway, Oklahoma, and Melissa Bible, St. Clair, opened the business this past week to a warm and brisk welcome.
“Judy had a consignment shop in Denver for five years and both of us had worked in consignment stores before and we felt it was time to go out on our own,” said Bible.
“We liked the building that was available and we liked the location,” said Gellerman.
When asked why the three sisters decided to open the business, Bible commented, “We like a bargain, we like to shop and we like people.”
The 3,000-plus sq. ft. facility has some 60 different consignment clients and features clothing, furniture, books, home decor, jewelry, linens, kitchenware, glassware, purses, and household items.
“Right now, we’re only using about half of the store, but we have more items coming and we’re slowed down a little bit by the rain,” said Bible.
The business had been well received during the first week, according to the sisters.
“Everybody here in Stanton told us they were glad to see us open and we really have been received well, especially for our first week of opening,” said Gellerman. “We’ve had people in here from Sullivan, Stanton, Cherryville, Steelville, St. Charles and Washington, just to name a few.”
The sisters were asked why resale shops continue to grow and prosper.
“The economy right now, I think, has a lot to do with it,” said Bible. “People do enjoy shopping for a bargain and that makes resale shops grow.”
The business is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon., and can be reached by calling 573-927-8225.
Three Sisters Resale is also accepting consignment items and encourages everyone to stop by the store and bring their items to be sold.
