Roy Crites

Roy F. Crites of Sullivan, MO passed away on Monday, October 19, 2009 at the age of 81 years.
Mr. Crites was born on January 3, 1928 in Delta, MO to Albert and Ruth (Roe) Crites. He honorably served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Air Force. After his discharge, he was employed for a time as a sheet metal worker with McDonnell-Douglas Corporation in St. Louis. Roy later worked for the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home in Gray Summit, MO. He was hardworking and industrious while employed there as a childcare worker and farm manager.
He was a father to many and loved by all who knew him.
Roy was an ordained Deacon and devout member of Temple Baptist Church. He was a 50-year member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge and was currently a member of the Sullivan Lodge No. 69 A.F. and A.M. and was also a Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star and currently a member of Sullivan Chapter No. 105. Other affiliations included the American Legion Post 218 of Washington, MO.
Roy was married to Wanda L. White, who preceded him in death in July of 1997. He later married LaVern Vogel and she, too, preceded him in death in March of 2008.
He is survived by two sons, Rodney Crites and wife, Janette, of Pleasant Valley, MO and Timothy Crites of Moberly, MO; one daughter, Lila Langworthy of Eldon, MO; two stepsons, Ronnie Campbell and wife, Debbie, of Sullivan, MO and Kenneth Campbell and wife, Kathy, of Sullivan, MO; four brothers, Earl Crites of Wentzville, MO, Bob Crites of Fayette, MO, Lee Crites of Festus, MO and Richard Crites of Villa Ridge, MO; two sisters, Verna Mae Ringwald of Jackson, MO and Shelby Belcher of Greenville, IL; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
Along with those previously mentioned, Roy was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Crites; one grandchild; and a sister, Mary McCarty.
Masonic services for Roy Crites were held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Eaton Funeral Home under the auspices of Sullivan Lodge No. 69 A.F. and A.M.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Perry and Kenneth Towne officiating. Interment was in Brush Creek Cemetery, Gray Summit, MO.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Temple Baptist Church Building Fund or the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home.
