Patients First Cardiology Group will be hosting its first Heart Health Fair on Sat., Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free event is open to the public and will take place on the second floor of the Patients First Health Care building at 901 Patients First Drive in Washington, MO.
A variety of screenings, discussion sessions and informational booths will be setup to offer something for everyone. Heart disease screenings will be performed by a registered nurse and will include cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI, waist circumference and a family health history assessment.
Peripheral Arterial Disease screenings will be offered using the new PADnet™ technology to allow individuals to determine if they suffer from low blood flow throughout their legs or arms.
Patients First Cardiologists will lead a different discussion each hour providing information on heart attack warning signs and prevention, sudden cardiac arrest and peripheral arterial disease. Each session will be followed by a question and answer segment where participants will get to discuss any concerns they might have.
In addition, Patients First Cardiology will include the following informational booths: Heart Healthy Nutrition, Urgent Care, Heart & Vascular Center, Four Rivers YMCA and an Ask the Cardiologist table where individuals can speak one- on-one with a Patients First Cardiologist.
The first 100 people will receive a free pedometer and attendance prizes will be raffled off hourly. Cardiovascular disease claims about as many lives each year as cancer, chronic lower respiratory diseases, accidents and diabetes mellitus combined (Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics, 2009).
Please take the time to put you and your family’s heart first and join Patients First Cardiology Division for this fun and educational day at Patients First Health Care.
