Hammer Time Construction has recently opened in Sullivan and is looking to leave their mark on the local construction industry.
Jason Hovis, owner, brings some 50 years combined construction service to Sullivan between him and his employees and decided to move his business from St. Louis to Sullivan.
“To be honest, my mother, grandmother and grandfather live here and my grandfather is in a nursing home and I wanted to be here to help take some stress off my mother,” said Hovis, on moving the business to Sullivan. “Also. I really wanted to get away from the city life and be a big fish in a small pond rather than a guppy in a big pond. My father always told me that, ‘You’re as good as your word,’ and I felt I did good work in the city and can do good work here in Sullivan.”
Hammer Time has been operating in the St. Louis area since 1997 and relocated to Sullivan about two months ago.
“We will continue to do work in St. Louis as we have many investors in St. Louis that we do work for, but Sullivan is where I’m calling home and where we want to be,” said Hovis. “We opened in Sullivan about two months ago and hit the floor running about three weeks ago when we started advertising in the Sullivan Independent News and word got out on our quality and service.”
Hovis stated that, since opening, they have completed about 10 projects in Sullivan and all of his clients have been 110 percent satisfied.
“The referrals we have received from our work have been great,” said Hovis. “I always try to go the extra mile for people and it doesn’t necessarily cost a lot. We want to treat people right and, with the economy being what it is now, we want to keep working. I really love Sullivan and I haven’t met a rude person in this town.”
Hovis stated that he is also working on some community projects.
“I not only want to live in Sullivan and work in Sullivan, but I want to help people and do something for the kids in the community,” said Hovis.
Hovis stated that the business provides service in residential, commercial and industrial properties with all types of construction, i.e. general contracting/home improvements. They provide licensed electricians, plumbers, HVAC and mechanical services. They also offer 24-hour, seven day a week emergency maintenance services that include powerwashing and catastrophic cleanup from fire, flooding or tornados.
“We pride ourselves in price, quality and service. I’m very particular with our work,” said Hovis.
